Can we talk?
Everybody has cruise deals.
Deals, schmiels! The secret to booking your cruise
deal isn't so secret. Big Tip..... don't pay service
charges that are tacked on by some agencies. Why?
Because you don't have to.
Second, there are
two ways to get good deals. 1) Book as far in
advance as possible. Then you not only get the
cruise you want with the destinations you want
but you can also get the cabin you want. The cruiselines
give nice discounts for knowing their cabins are
sold.
Or, if you can't book early, then 2) book as soon
as you see the deal you can't refuse. Don't wait,
the better the offer, the quicker it sells. Whether
it's 3 months, 3 weeks or 3 days out, good deals,
good cabins, good cruises sell out. If you take
too long to think about it you'll be disappointed.
Now, if you
are free as a bird and can non rev anywhere on
a moment's notice. If you don't mind taking the
last cabin on the ship, even if it is by the elevator,
then wait until the cruiseline needs you more
than you need it. Take one of those out the door
specials and you'll be bragging about what you
paid for that cruise for a long, long time.

by Amanda Garrett Plain Dealer Reporter
If you're hoping to sail
out of the snow this winter on a cruise through
the Caribbean, book now. Some ships already are
sold out or close to it. And warm-weather itineraries
- through the Caribbean and tropics elsewhere
- might cost you $500 to $1,000 more per person
than this past winter, even more if you delay.
"I'm telling people they
really need to plan ahead now," said Arlene
Goldberg, president of Action Travel in Solon.
Some Hawaii cruises are already full from January
through March of next year, she said. "Booking
is totally different now."
